Acayu plant based foods was born out of friendship, and the common vision of Raz Swissa and Moti Nagar. Born and raised in Israel, both their love for food and health started early. Their travels took them on food and healing adventures from Tel Aviv to India, to London New York and LA. Their accumulated knowledge in fermentation, sourdough, mushrooms, ayurveda, reiki and elite food creation has left an impression in every kitchen they ran.
Moti studied cooking in high school and became extremely passionate about food in his first travels to India in 2002. He owned and developed the menu for his first restaurant, Blackbird in Brooklyn, NY in 2010, and later opened a vegetarian kitchen in a Greenpoint out of the Goodyoga studio.

He began studying Ayurveda and later developed his own raw vegan line in Israel specializing in raw vegan "cheese", desserts and snacks intended to dazzle the palates of his fellow vegans. After perfecting his recipes, Rama Raw Food made its way into small privately owned health food stores throughout Israel as well as offering this line to Gabriel Cousins (the founder of Tree of Life) during his Juice fast retreats. Moti later took on the task as head chef at Alegria, a vegan restaurant in Tel Aviv. Later moving to Los Angeles Moti developed desserts and vegan products for Matthew Kenney's Plant Food and Wine, and offered private home vegan cooking and classes as well as small intimate private events.

Chef Raz Swissa, Acayu

In 2019 Moti got the call from Raz to join him and his food stall venture, In a Pita, in Portugal, and the old friends were reunited for their new food adventures.
Raz, a reiki healer with a passion for bread making, was a pastry chef at top restaurants in Tel aviv. He later moved to London and won prizes for his sourdough, working at Côte and Poco Festival Cafe in Bristol. Raz's passion for travel and design brought on the founding of Banyan Tribe with his wife, a clothing and jewelry label for Festivals. After a successful run, Raz and his family fell in love with Portugal and he went back to his passion for food, creating In a Pita, with Moti quickly joining. Both now married with children, Raz & Moti were ready to bring their vision and business drives to the next level. With their people skills, food mastery and business experience under their belt, Acayu was born, bringing the fantastic taste, ecologically minded notion of vegan spreads and fermented products to consumers.
Acayu has been growing steadily since its founding in 2019, opening the eyes and palates of its growing fanbase to the beauty of suffering free, nutritious and delicious plant based food.
